- AKTU will replace UPSEE with JEE score sheet from 2021
- This move is intended to benefit students so that they don’t have to appear for two different exams
- Many states in the country have already started using JEE scores for their engineering seats
Mumbai, Maharashtra: According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University(AKTU), Lucknow will stop conducting the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination or UPSEE from 2021. UPSEE was conducted for admission to around 750 engineering colleges in the state (approximately 1.4 lakh seats). The report quotes a National Testing Agency official stating that AKTU will be using the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) score sheet instead of conducting the UPSEE starting next year.
The report also quotes the Vice-Chancellor of AKTU, Professor Vinay Pathak confirming the same. He adds that this move will save a lot of time for students who otherwise have to appear for JEE and UPSEE separately. According to the report, a senior bureaucrat at the UP Chief Minister’s office has confirmed the same being discussed with the CM Yogi Adityanath. The CM was also convinced about the advantages of using the JEE score sheet and easing the pressure on students.
This year, the UPSEE is scheduled to be held on May 10, 2020, by AKTU. AKTU decided to implement the JEE score sheet from 2021 so that students have adequate time to prepare for the JEE next year. JEE is one of India’s most popular engineering entrance examinations for admission to top engineering institutes like IIT, NIT, etc. Currently, many states have already stopped conducting state-level entrance examinations and opted for the JEE scores instead. Candidates planning for an engineering seat next year are advised to check the official website for a circular or notification confirming the same.
