The MHT-CET 2020, has been postponed by the conducting authorities and a fresh schedule regarding the same is expected to be announced on the website at a later date.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test conducted for the admissions into the engineering, pharmacy, and other streams has been postponed by the authorities. This call was taken after the lockdown for 21 days in the country was announced by the Prime Minister. The MHT CET examination was initially scheduled to be held between April 13 to 23, 2020. The State CET Cell has postponed the entrance examination and a fresh schedule regarding the same will be updated on the website shortly.

A confirmation regarding the same can be checked on the official website which has a circular to notify the students. Students can access the link given here to read the notice updated on the website http://cetcell.mahacet.org/. The notice also advised students to regularly check the website for any new update or notice.

This decision to postpone the examination was taken after taking the safety of the students into consideration. The lockdown which has been announced to safeguard the spread of the virus also played some part in the decision. Admit cards were earlier expected to be released on April 5, 2020.

The exam is conducted online every year by the CET cell for entry into various under-graduates’ courses like the engineering, pharmacy, etc. Close to 4 lakh students appear for the state level entrance examination with the majority being engineering aspirant.

The MHT-CET is bifurcated in two sections based on the courses targeted; the first section of students will appear for an MCQ based PCM i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics papers and the second will appear for PCB i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology examination.

In the year 2013, admissions to UG streams were based on JEE mains score as MHT-CET was terminated but the same was implemented back from 2016 onwards and since 2018, MHT-CET has been a mandatory examination in the state. The MCA examination has been postponed by the cell which was scheduled on March 28, 2020.
