Mumbai: MSBSHSE (The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education) has postponed the SSC Class10 and HSC Class10 Exams 2021. The announcement was made by Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra Education Minister regarding the postponement of Class 10 and 12 exams due to the surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state.
MSBSHSE plans to conduct the HSC (Class 12) exams 2021 in May end while SSC (Class 10) exams 2021 in June. Earlier, the Maharashtra Board HSC exams 2021 were scheduled to start from 23rd April while SSC exams 2021 were scheduled to begin from 29th April 2021.
Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra education minister, took to her official Twitter handle and tweeted, “We’re closely monitoring the health situation. Fresh dates for these exams will be announced accordingly. The decision is the outcome of consultations with various stakeholders-students, teachers, parents, elected representatives from across parties, academicians and tech giants- in the wake of rising coronavirus cases. During the consultations, various alternative assessment options were evaluated keeping the health, well-being and future of our students in mind. Postponing exams seemed to be the most pragmatic solution.”
Gaikwad said that the health of students is a priority in the present circumstances and they are not favourable for holding the exams. The state has also postponed the entrance exams for professional courses.
She also said that the board may consider promoting the students on the basis of internal assessment. However, there is no confirmation on the same yet.
