Until last year, the State Council of Education Research (SCERT) was conducting the Class 5 and Class 8 board exams. Class 5 exams were earlier scheduled to be held on February 18, 2020, and Class 8 exams on February 25, 2020. The Board released a notification on January 6, 2020, announcing the new dates. The timing of the Class 5 exam will be from 10 am to 1.15 pm with 15 minutes extra to allow students to read the question paper. The timing of the Class 8 exam will be from 9 am to 12.15 pm. Further, the board will conduct practical examinations from March 18 to 25, 2020. Also, health and physical education exams will be held between March 24 & 25, 2020.
While some teachers feel that the Class 8 exam on Mathematics March 11, 2020, might need to be postponed due to Holi celebrations on March 10, 2020, there is no such update from the Board. Students are requested to check the official website regularly for updates.
With PSEB conducting the exams this year onwards, students can expect some changes in the exam pattern. However, the syllabus will remain the same as before. PSEB will ensure that the examinations are uniform and it follows the no-detention policy as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
