PSTET date postponed from Jan 5 to Jan 19. Irregularity found in the sequence of roll numbers. Probe ordered into the anomaly.
Mumbai, Maharashtra: Stating absence of randomized roll numbers as the reason, the Punjab State Education Board has postponed from January 5, 2020, to January 19, 2020, the date for the Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET).
Candidate can check the notifications on PSTET official website
The Secretary of the Punjab State Education Board, Mohammad Tayeeb said it was found that a serial number of the forms and roll numbers were matching in several places, giving rise to the suspicion of some unfair practices put in place. The date of the exam, earlier, was January 5, 2020.
In view of the “weak rationalization”, the job of allotting roll numbers has been withdrawn from the Education Board’s director and an inquiry has been set up into the irregularity, the secretary informed.
The notification sent out by the Punjab State Education Board secretary Mohammad Tayeeb also stated that the fresh roll numbers for the exam will now be issued on January 15, 2020. The candidates for the eligibility test may download the fresh roll number from the Punjab State Education Board website.
Candidates have expressed disappointment at the development. On grounds of anonymity, some of them have said that malpractices are rampant in the recruitment process. They said that details of candidates are often tampered and so also in the case of exam copies and results. They have appealed to the authorities to look into the matter and taking strong cognizance of the irregularity.
The education board, on the other hand, has swung into action and is taking every step to avoid embarrassment in the form of a scam surfacing. Sources in the board said that unscrupulous elements find their way through the system and spoil the proceedings by preventing fair and transparent progress of the exam.
