- With temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius, the Government declares school-holiday for the next two days
- Classes will resume on Monday – December 23, 2019
- Practical Board Examinations scheduled for Thursday and Friday are also being postponed
Mumbai, Maharashtra: On Wednesday night, the UP Government issued an order instructing schools to remain closed from December 19 and 20 due to extreme cold weather conditions. The Government also asked the schools to reschedule the Practical Board Examinations which were scheduled for these days.
The school will remain closed for students up to Class 12. The UP Government has ordered all district administrators to ensure that all schools, public and private, till 12th standard, remain closed till Sunday following the intense cold wave in the State.
UP has been experiencing cold weather conditions with the minimum temperature dropping to around 10 degrees Celsius in the region. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted dense fog in certain areas over Western UP.
According to reports, the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar told PTI, “All government and private schools across Noida and Greater Noida have been directed to remain shut over the next two days due to cold weather.” Ghaziabad District Magistrate, Ajay Shankar Pandey and Agra District Magistrate, NG Ravi Kumar have also ordered schools to remain closed over the next two days.

In recent days, many Parents Associations had demanded schools to remain closed as the sudden winter chill was leading to a lot of health problems in children.
According to IMD, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal are likely to experience severe cold conditions over the next few days. Administration in Uttarakhand has issued an Orange Alert till December 20, 2019.
With winter announcing its arrival, children are bound to have a cold Christmas and New Year this year.
