Highlights on Schools to Re-open :

Some States announce to reopen the schools partially in the non containment zones from 2nd November 2020 onwards. Schools in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and , Uttarakhand to reopen from 2nd November 2020 onwards.

Mumbai: According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, there will be no further relaxations until 30th November 2020. Also, the guidelines of Unlock 5.0 would remain the same and no fresh guidelines will be issued. Amidst this, a few states announce the partial re-opening of schools outside the containment zones.

The Unlock process began from 1st June 2020 across the non-containment zones. The number of Covid-19 cases is decreasing in the country and the recovery rate is now around 91.34%. Thus, restaurants, gyms, malls, cinema halls, multiplexes, religious places, metro rail services, clubs, swimming pools, etc. have also been opened.

The JNV and KVs will be reopening all across the country. The following States are proposing the reopening of the schools:

1. Uttarakhand: The classes for 10th to 12th students will begin on 2nd November 2020 as per the orders of the Uttarakhand state government. However, the students require the consent of their parents to attend the classes in in-person. Also, the schools need to maintain the basic hygiene and health requirements keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind.

2. Himachal Pradesh: The Himachal Pradesh state government announces to reopen the schools for the students of Class 9 to Class 12 ensuring that the schools shall take all the safety precautions.

3. Andhra Pradesh: The Andhra Pradesh government announced that the classes will be held only till 12 PM on alternate days with only 16 students in a class. The schools also need to follow social distancing and hygiene norms.

4. Assam: In Assam, the schools will begin in the morning shift keeping a proper time gap between shifts. The schools are also providing iron and folic tablets to students and are sanitizing the premises.

The schools have been re-opened by Uttar Pradesh and Punjab government. In Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan also the schools may reopen by 16th November 2020.
