Tamil Nadu reopening of schools: The Education Minister reviews the safety measures to avoid Covid-19 infections

K A Sengottaiyan, the Education Minister of Tamil Nadu reviews the Covid-19 safety measures ahead of the reopening of the schools on 16th November 2020. The Tamil Nadu state government proposes to reopen the schools for Class 9 to Class 12. The Education Minister instructed the school authorities to follow proper unlock guidelines and the safety precaution.
Mumbai: The Tamil Nadu state government has announced the reopening of the schools in the state from 16th November 2020. The schools shall reopen for class 9 to class 12. Earlier, the TN government had proposed to reopen the schools from 1st October 2020. But, due to the concerns of the parents amidst the Covid-19 situation, the order was kept on hold.
The TN Education minister discussed the working out of the modalities with senior officials of his ministry at the state secretariat. As per the official sources, K A Sengottaiyan has instructed the officials to make sure that the schools take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic among the students. Also, the school administration shall ensure that the students wear masks compulsorily and shall also arrange for the thermal scanning of the students on a daily basis.
The classrooms and the washrooms also require to be disinfected and sanitized. Also, the social distancing norms should be followed while making the seating arrangements for the students.
The school administration has also asked the education ministry to announce the details of the omitted lessons so that the teachers can complete the course in time.
However, how many students will attend the schools from 16th November is a question. The fear of the spread of coronavirus is not allowing the parents to send their children to school.
