Tamil Nadu Schools Reopening: The Tamil Nadu Government to consult the parents in a meeting on 9th November 2020

Highlights on Tamil Nadu Schools Reopening on 9th November 2020:
On 2nd November 2020, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami had announced that the schools will reopen in the state from 16th November 2020. The schools will reopen only for the students of Class 9 to 12. However, the state government now declared to hold a meeting with the parents in order to consult them regarding this on 9th November 2020.
Mumbai: On 2nd November 2020, the Tamil Nadu State government had declared that the schools for Classes 9 to 12 will reopen from 16th November 2020. In view of this, prior to the reopening of the schools, the TN state government has planned to hold a consultative meeting with the parents on 9th November 2020. The purpose of this meeting is to know the opinion of the parents on the matter of reopening schools.
The state government is planning to hold the meeting with the parents in order to calm the fears and concerns about the safety of the children. From the past few months, the pandemic has hit the country badly and thus the parents are very much worried about their children. Amidst the Covid -19 situation, the TN state government has decided to take the parents into confidence before the reopening of the schools.
Dheeraj Kumar, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, said in the press release that “Parents of students from Classes 9 to 12 can put forth their opinions in the meetings and those who could not, may send letters voicing their views.”
As a part of this process, the meetings with the parents will be held at 10 A.M. in the morning on 9th November 2020. Also, the government has directed the school principals across the state to conduct meetings with the parents and PTA office bearers and discuss the matter of reopening of the schools.
The TN government has said that the final decision to re-open the schools will be taken only after the consultative meetings with the parents.
