UP Boards 2020, 2.39 lakh students skip Hindi Paper on Day 1

2.39 lakh students of the UP Board skipped their Hindi paper on Day 1 of their Board Examination.
Mumbai: On day 1 of board examination, 2.39 lakh students skipped their 10th and 12th UP board examination as per the details provided by the board. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad commenced the board examination for 10th and 12th students from February 18, 2020. For the first paper, the board witnessed an unusual scenario of 2.39 lakh absentees.
As per reports, around 56 lakh students registered for the exam of which 2.39 skipped their first paper of Hindi language. 1.57 lakh students of class 10th and 82,091 students of class 12th skipped their examination. The details about the number of students who skipped the examination were released by the board from the exam control room.
When the board released the list of absentees, it also provided the details of the number of students who were caught cheating during the examinations. As per the official details shared by the board, around 34 students were caught cheating. Out of the total students caught cheating, 26 were boys from class 10th and a girl from the same standard. The exam flying squad also caught seven boys from class 12th cheating during the examination for using unfair means.
The UP Board has filed 7 FIRs and has registered cases against students caught cheating during the examination, following this incidence. The board is yet to figure out the reason as to why students have not attempted their 10th and 12th board examinations.
The board has taken several strict measures to curb malpractices during the examination. The cheating cases indicate that there might some lapses in the present system.
