Examination Controller of Uttar Pradesh has said that UPTET 2020 is not likely to be conducted in the year 2020 due to the pandemic. The exam takes at least 3 months’ time to be held and thus will now be held in 2021. UPTET is conducted once every year and is the eligibility test for the recruitment of teachers in the government schools.
Mumbai: Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, Secretary, Examination Controller has said that most probably UPTET 2020 (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) will not be held this year. The exam requires at least three months’ time to conduct and owing to the Covid-19 pandemic it will not be possible to conduct it. The exams will now be held in 2021.
The exam organizing body had earlier sent a proposal to the concerned authorities regarding the conduction of the UPTET 2020 exams. Thus, the release of UPTET 2020 exam notification was expected soon. But, the authorities have not taken any decision regarding the same yet.
UPTET or Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by UPBEB or Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board. It is a state-level eligibility test for teachers. The exam is conducted offline or physically. There are two papers for UPTET, namely Paper I and Paper-II. The duration of the UPTET exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The teachers who wish to become teachers of classes 1 to 5 in the government schools of Uttar Pradesh have to clear Paper I and those for classes 6 to 8 need to clear Paper-II. The UP government has lately issued appointment letters to more than 31,000 teachers after the verification of documents and counselling.
