From Trade to Territory – The Company Establishes Power

One day Arun went visiting with his mom to a tailor shop. There, as his mom gave instructions to the tailor, Arun went on exploring the shop and entered a room where he found a portrait of a man. He wondered whose portrait was it; just then the man from the portrait started speaking. He told Arun that he was the founder of this shop set up under the East India Company.

And that this shop was set up in mid 18th century. To which Arun wondered how can that be possible since India wasn’t completely free yet.  To which the man in the portrait introduced the concept of trade to Arun. So let us join Arun in this journey of Trade to Territory and understand how did the East India Company establish power.
