Answer: Given total water =5 lts Vidya consumed \(\frac{2}{5}\) th of water i.e., \(\frac{2}{5}\) (5)=2lots.

Q: Question 3. Ritu ate \(\frac{3}{5}\) part of an apple and the remaining apple was eaten by her brother Sam. How many parts of the apple did Sam eat? Who had the larger share? by how much?

Answer: Ritu ate=\(\frac{3}{5}\) Sam ate=1−\(\frac{3}{5}\) = \(\frac{2}{5}\) Ritu had the larger share = \(\frac{3}{5}\) −\(\frac{2}{5}\) = \(\frac{1}{5}\)

Q: Question 4. Michael finished colouring a picture in \(\frac{7}{12}\) hour. Vaibhav finished colouring the same picture in \(\frac{3}{4}\) hour. Who worked longer. By what fraction was it longer.

Answer: Michael painted =\(\frac{7}{12}\) hour =\(\frac{7}{12}\) ×60=35minutes Vaibhav painted =\(\frac{3}{4}\) hour =\(\frac{3}{4}\) ×60=45minutes ∴ Vaibhav worked longer by a fraction. ⇒\(\frac{10}{35}\) ⇒\(\frac{2}{7}\) fraction longer.
