NCERT Solutions for Class 8 Maths Chapter 15 Â
This chapter you will learn about the representation of data in graphical form and types of graphs and their applications. Let us now discuss the subtopics covered in this chapter.
15.1 – Introduction
In this you will study about the purpose of drawing a graph is to show numerical facts in the usual form so that they can be understood quickly, easily and clearly.
15.1.1 – A Bar graph
In this, you will study about the bar graphs in detail. A bar graph consists of two or more parallel horizontal or vertical bars of equal width which represent the data.
15.1.2 – A Pie Chart (or a circle-graph)
In this, you will study about the pie charts to represent the data. A pie-graph is used to compare various parts of a whole data using a circle.
15.1.3 – A histogram
In this, you will study the histogram to represent the data collected. A histogram is a bar graph that represents the data in intervals. It has adjacent bars over the intervals.
15.1.4 – A line graph
In this, you will study about the line graph which shows data that changes continuously over periods of time.
15.2 – Linear Graphs
In this, you will study the linear graphs to represent the data. The linear graph shows the change in data over a period of time.
15.2.1 – Location of a point
In this, you will study about locating a point on the graph.
15.2.2 – Coordinates
In this, you will study about the Cartesian system. Here the horizontal line of the axes is called the x-axis and the vertical line is called the y-axis.
