Before delving into JEE Main 2022 preparation, students should know that this exam plays the role of a screening test for JEE Advanced. As is the norm, the top 2.5 lakh students will qualify for JEE Advanced. JEE Main 2022 Preparation: What’s New?
Similar to this year, JEE Main 2022 will be held in four cycles – February, March, April and May. Thus, students currently immersed in the JEE Main 2022 preparation have the option to decide among the four attempts. The process for the first cycle of the JEE Main 2022 application form will begin in the third week of December tentatively.
As per the JEE Main 2022 application form, the exam will be held in the Computer-based Test (CBT) Mode for courses such as B.E, B.Tech, B.Arch B. Planning. However, students will have to undertake a pen and paper test for the drawing section for the B.Arch section whenever the JEE Main 2022 exam date is announced.

Although the JEE Main 2022 date for the first cycle is not announced yet, it will be held in January. Aspirants can fill in the JEE Main 2022 application form until the final week of January.
The admit card for the cycle will be available on the website in the second week of February. The first cycle of JEE Main 2022 will thus be held in the final week of February as per the JEE Mains 2022 date updates, while the official answer key will be provided a week later. The results for the same will be declared in the same week.
JEE Main 2022 exam date – Cycle Two
The JEE Main 2022 application form for the second cycle will begin in the first week of March. The window to apply for the competitive exam will be narrow this time around. The admit card will be uploaded a week later and the exam will be held in the third week of March.
The answer key of the second cycle of JEE Main 2022 will be provided in the same week of the exam, while the results will be declared in the fourth week of March.
JEE Main 2022 exam date – Cycle Three
For the third cycle, the JEE Main 2022 application form will be available in the fourth week of March. Aspirants can fill in their JEE Main 2022 application form until the first week of April. As per the JEE Mains 2022 date, the admit card will be released in the third week of April.
While the last week of the month is currently being delegated as the JEE Main 2022 exam date. After the JEE Main 2022 exam date, the answer key, the challenge to the answer key and the results will be released in the first week of May.
JEE Main 2022 exam date – Cycle Four
The process for the JEE Main 2022 will begin in the first week of May, immediately after the conclusion of the third cycle. Students can fill in the JEE Main 2022 application form in the first two weeks of May.
The admit card for the fourth cycle will be available in the third week of May as per the JEE Mains 2022 date. Meanwhile the exam will be conducted in the final week of the month of May. After the conclusion of the fourth cycle of JEE Main 2022 exam, the answer key and the results will be announced in the first week of June.
Steps for Application form ahead of JEE Main 2022 exam date
- Candidates have to first complete their application for JEE Main 2022 by providing some personal information such as name, contact number and email address.
- Candidates will have to create a password and answer a few security questions after the notification for JEE Mains 2022 date is announced.
- On the completion of the JEE Main application form, a unique application number will be generated. This number shall be saved and used for future reference.
- After the registration, students have to login to the account using the application number that is generated and then submit all the required details.
- All the relevant documents should be uploaded in the specified format.
Documents required to Apply Online for JEE Main 2022
Students need to upload the following documents on the official JEE Main – NTA website:
- Photo identity cards such as Aadhar card, ration card, bank passbook, etc.
- Category certificates if applying for reservation.
- Scanned images and signature.
- The photograph should have a file size between 10 KB to 200 KB and a dimension of 3.5×4.5 cm in the JPEG/JPG format.
- The signature should have a file size between 4 KB to 30 KB with a dimension of 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm in the JPEG/JPG format.
- Debit card or bank details for payment of JEE Main 2022 application form fees.
JEE Main 2022 Application Form Correction
NTA always provides the option to correct the JEE Main 2022 application form. Students who end up providing wrong information can get it changed during the window to correct the JEE Main 2022 application form.
Aspirants have to simply login to their account to make the corrections, before the JEE Main 2022 exam date approaches. Some details might require the students to pay a certain amount of fees, while some other corrections can be done without any payment. To elaborate further, the following details can be changed:
- Personal details such as name, contact details, etc. can be changed.
- Academic details by school and passing certificates can be corrected.
- Candidates can change the choice of their exam centres.
- If a candidate has applied for paper 1, but later decides to apply for paper 2, can do so with the payment of the fee balance.
- Candidates are also permitted to change their caste category. If a candidate wants to switch from the general category to a reserved category, the refund will not be provided. If the candidate changes from a reserved category to the general category, then they will have to pay the difference in amount.
JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria
A candidate, in order to successfully apply for the exam after the announcement of JEE Main 2022 exam date should meet a set of criteria that are listed below:
- Indian nationals, OCI, PIO, foreign nationals are eligible to fill the JEE Main 2022 application form.
- There is no prescribed age eligibility to apply for the exam.
- The candidate should have passed the 10+2 exam of their respective board or any equivalent qualifying exam in 2020 or 2021.
- Students who will be appearing for the 10+2 exam in 2022 can also apply.
- The aspirants must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of five subjects viz. language, physics, mathematics, chemistry/ biology/ technical vocational subjects, biotechnology, and any other subject.
- The students who appeared for the 10+2 exam in 2016 but failed to pass and later on cleared the same exam in 2019 are not eligible to fill the JEE Main 2022 application form.
- There is no prescribed number of attempts for JEE Main 2022.

Details regarding JEE MAIN 2022 Admit Card
On completion of the application form, students will receive the admit card days prior to JEE Main 2022. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. An aspirant will not be allowed entry in the exam hall without a valid admit card.
On receiving the admit card, students should first check thoroughly that all details are correct. If someone experiences a printing mistake on the admit card, they should immediately contact the relevant authorities and get it rectified. While visiting the examination hall, students should carry the admit card along with any photo identity card.
