Reproduction in Organism Class 12 CBSE Revision Notes

This article deals with biology class 12 chapter 1 notes. All the organisms in this world live for a certain period of time. Furthermore, life span refers to the period from birth to the natural death of an individual. Moreover, life spans differ from one organism to another. Some life spans are of a few days in contrast to life spans which can last for more than a thousand years. Also, the life spans of most individuals lie between these two extremes. Irrespective of the life spans of various individuals, death is a definite thing. With the exception of single-cell organisms, no individual is immortal.

Reproduction enables the continuation of a species to live generation after generation. Furthermore, reproduction ensures that the death of organisms does not result in the extinction of the species. Moreover, a broad classification of reproduction of organisms can take place into asexual and sexual reproduction.

In asexual reproduction, the fusion of gametes does not take place. In contrast, sexual reproduction involves the fusion of gametes. Asexual reproduction is common in simple organisms like algae, fungi, and unicellular organisms. Sexual reproduction is certainly a complex and slower process in comparison to asexual reproduction. Most noteworthy, complex and higher animals reproduce by the sexual method. Also, events of sexual reproduction consist of pre-fertilization, fertilization, and post-fertilization events. Also, this CBSE Biology Class 12 Chapter 1 Notes will help you to revise the chapter.
