CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 3 – Playing With Number NCERT Solutions
Now Playing with Numbers is one of the most interesting chapters of Class 6 Mathematics. It has many interesting concepts to cover from factors to prime numbers to LCM and HCF. All of these concepts are tested by interesting numerical and word problems in 7 different exercises. 1 – General Form of a Number
In this topic, we will see the general form of two, three and four-digit numbers. We will also see how to form various numbers from any number of given digits. There are exercises where we will learn the mathematical functions of reversing three and four-digit numbers.
2- Prime and Composite Numbers
We will be introduced to the concept of a prime number and composite numbers. Students are also taught how to identify a number as either a prime number or a composite number.
3 – Prime Factors of a Number
We will revisit the concept of factorization. Then students will learn the meaning of prime factorization and how to find the prime factors of any given number, i.e. break down a number into its very basic prime factors.
4 – Divisibility Tests
This subtopic teaches students to check divisibility of a number without actually dividing the number. We will learn some smart and fun divisibility rules and various divisibility tests for the digits 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11. We will also learn some tricks for the divisibility of higher numbers like 13 and 17.
5- HCF and LCM
Students are introduced to the concept of the Highest Common Factor (HCF). And they are also taught how to find HCF of numbers by the listing method and the come comprehensive prime factorization method. Then we move on to Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) and finding LCM by prime factorization and division method.
