The State
There are 29 states in India. Partitioning of states was on 26 November 1947 and on 26 January 1950, they were governed. Partitioning and Transforming of states is an ongoing process and hence, states have undergone much geographical change. Initially, India was 28 state country but in June 2004, the 29th state of India was born. Hence making India a 29 state country.
State capitals are responsible for administration and tourism. Forming of states was between 1947-1950. Princely Provisions came together and hence formed states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. Local Government
Local Government of India is addressed to the government of 29 states and 7 union territories. Total of 6,45,000 Local government is there in India. therefore the local name for local government is panchayat. Village Panchayats takes care of administerial affairs of the village and hence the senior most authorities of the village are head of panchayats and are hence, called panchayat.
Zilla panchayat, Garam panchayat and Taluka panchayat are the types of Panchayati Raj. Duties of Local Government or the panchayats are to keep a log of n0.of births and deaths in the village. Cleaning, Maintaining and constructing of public street and subsequently providing lighting and watering to the streets. Establishment and maintenance of primary school and hospitals. Numbering and naming of streets and houses are also their duty.
Performing some duties are not compulsory for a local government or panchayats to follow. Some of these duties are. old building removal. planting trees and maintaining gardens. Construction of rest houses, public building, libraries and also museums.
Union Territories
There are 7 union territories in India. In 1949 when Indian constitution was made there was only one union territory and that was Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 7 Union territories of India are

- Daman and Diu
- Dadra and Nagar Haveli
- National Capital Delhi
Union territories have a right to change the state which can govern them hence this resolved may federal issues between the states. Since there is no fixed government for these territories hence the tax collection is done by the union government.
