Answer: 1 calorie =4.2J
∴ Work done = heat obtained in calories ×4.2
or w=100×4.2=420J

Answer: Kilogram is used as an SI unit of mass. It is represented by the symbol kg. It is defined as the mass of platinum-iridium block stored at the international bureau of weights and measures in France.
Question 3: If the set A has 3 elements and the set B={3,4,5} then find the number of elements in (A×B)?
Answer: It is given that set A has 3 elements and the elements of set B are 3,4 and 5
⇒ Number of elements in set B=3
Number of elements in (A×B)
= (Number of elements in A) × (Number of elements in B)
=3×3=9
Thus the number of elements in (A×B) is 9
Question 4: Adult human haemoglobin consists of
- 2 subunits (α,α)
- 2 subunits (β,β)
- 4 subunits (2α,2β)
- 3 subunits (2α,1β)
Answer: Haemoglobin is the Quaternary structure of the protein and it is shown by proteins that contain more than one polypeptide chain. When the units are dissimilar, it is known as heterogeneous Quaternary change. As in the case of haemoglobin, it is made up of two subunits as 2 alpha and 2 beta subunits. They all four are combined along with the iron molecule that carries the oxygen. One haemoglobin carries four oxygen molecules. Thus, the correct answer is ‘4 subunits (2α, 2β).’
