Science Experiments for Students and Children

Kids’ activities need to have a purpose. Furthermore, they should be fun and interactive otherwise the kids will not take any interest in it.  Besides, kids experiments should also be fun and interactive. In this article, we will some awesome science experiments.

Science Experiments Ideas

Science experiment refers to an experiment which we demonstrate in a controlled environment. Moreover, they determine the validity of an experiment.

In this, we will discuss some simple science experiments that you can make at home. Also, they can be easily made with the help of ingredients at home.

Before we begin with the experiments, check out some awesome science project ideas here.

Following are the list of Science Experiments Students can perform –

  • Experiment 1 – Lava Lamp
  • Experiment 2 – Light Refraction with water
  • Experiment 3 – Rainbow Fizzies
  • Experiment 4 – Invisible Ink
  • Experiment 5 – Hot ice

Experiment 1 – Lava Lamp

For this experiment, you need a bottle, water, food coloring, and oil. Firstly, put some oil (1/4 bottle or less) in the bottle. Secondly, add some food coloring to oil and stir it until the color completely dissolve in it.

Thirdly, put water in the bottle (3/4 bottle). Finally, cap the bottle and seal it and your lava lamp is ready. Flip the bottle and let the oil rise. Most noteworthy, you can add glitter and stars in water to make it look more attractive.

Experiment 2 – Light Refraction with water

This is a fun and learning experiment which teaches about the principles of light. Furthermore, for this experiment, you need a transparent bottle, water, paper, and a marker. Firstly, fill the bottle fully with water. Secondly, draw two arrows in different directions on the piece of paper with the help of a marker.

Finally, put the piece of paper behind the bottle. What do you observe? The arrow appears to be in opposite directions this is because of the law of refraction.

Experiment 3 – Rainbow Fizzies

For this experiment, you need a baking tray, a bowl, baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, and dropper or syringe. For the experiment put some baking soda in a bowl (3-4 tablespoon) and add food coloring in it using syringe or dropper.

After that mix it well until the color is completely mixed up. In addition, repeat this process seven times for seven colors of the rainbow. Furthermore, put each color in the baking tray after mixing it (according to the order of the rainbow).

After completely filling the tray with all the colors take the vinegar and pour it over the mixture. What do you observe, bubbles started to form up and they mix the colors to make the rainbow more real.

Experiment 4 – Invisible Ink

For this experiment, you need lemon juice, cotton swab, small bowl, plain paper, and blow dryer. For this firstly take lemon juice in the bowl. Moreover, dip the cotton swab into the lemon juice and write the message on the paper.

After a little while, the lemon juice will completely dry off. Furthermore, the message will also become invisible. Now take the blow dryer and apply heat to the paper. What do you see? The message started to appear and in the light, you can read it clearly.

This happens because of the reaction of lemon juice with heat. Also, in the presence of heat, the lemon juice starts to decompose and release carbon. Moreover, when the carbon touches the air it oxidizes and allows you to see the message.

Experiment 5 – Hot Ice

For this experiment, you need white vinegar, baking soda, a pot, a measuring cup, a dish, and a spoon. Firstly, put 4 cups of white vinegar in a pot. After that slowly put 4 tablespoons of baking soda in it one spoon at a time so that the mixture does not erupt.

After adding all the baking soda stir the mixture until the baking soda completely dissolves in it. Next heat the mixture on medium-low heat for a little more than 1 hour (Keep in mind that the solution will have to be reduced to around 75 percent). After that put the solution in a glass measuring cup and place it in the fridge for half an hour.

Most noteworthy, after taking it out of the fridge take some dried sodium acetate from the pot and put it into the tray. After that put the liquid slowly on the dried powder and you will see that the hot ice will start to form.
