NCERT Solutions for Class 11 Physics Chapter 4

NCERT Solutions for Class 11 Physics Chapter 4 Motion in a Plane helps students to understand this fundamental chapter of Physics. In our daily life, we encounter various object with oscillatory motions. This planer motion is a very interesting topic in physics. Students will come to know about various terms and equations for planer motion in a 2-D plane.

Let us discuss the sub-topics in detail.

4.1: Introduction:

In this chapter, the student will study the oscillatory motion and its equations with properties.

4.2: SCALARS AND VECTORS:

In physics, we can categorize quantities as scalars or vectors. A vector quantity is having both magnitude and direction.

4.2.1: Position and Displacement Vectors:

Position and displacement both are the vector quantities.

4.2.2: Equality of Vectors:

Two vectors may be equal. It is possible when their magnitude and direction both are same.

4.3: MULTIPLICATION OF VECTORS BY REAL NUMBERS:

Multiplication of a vector by a real number will increase its magnitude without changing its direction.

4.4: ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION OF VECTORS — GRAPHICAL METHOD:

The student will learn the methods two add and subtract two vectors by using the graphical method. Vectors will follow the law of parallelogram.

4.5: RESOLUTION OF VECTORS:

The student will study that they can resolve a given vector into two component vectors along with a set of two vectors all in the same plane.

4.6: VECTOR ADDITION – ANALYTICAL METHOD:

Vector addition is also possible by analytical methods. It is easier to add vectors by combining their respective components.

4.7: MOTION IN A PLANE:

The student will see how to describe motion in two dimensions using vectors.

4.7.1: Position Vector and Displacement:

The position vector of a particle located in a plane with reference to the origin of an x-y reference frame.

4.8: MOTION IN A PLANE WITH CONSTANT ACCELERATION:

An object is moving in the x-y plane and its acceleration is constant, then over an interval of time, the average acceleration will give the equation of motion.

4.9: RELATIVE VELOCITY IN TWO DIMENSIONS:

In this section, the student will study the concept of relative velocity, for motion along a straight line. Also, they will learn to extend as motion in a plane or in three dimensions.

4.10: PROJECTILE MOTION:

An object that is in flight after throwing it, is called a projectile. The student will study the projectile motion and its equation.

4.11:  UNIFORM CIRCULAR MOTION:

When an object follows a circular path at a constant speed then the motion of the object will be uniform circular motion.
