Early Life – Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born on 26 September 1820 at Birsingha village. Furthermore, this village is at the Paschim Midnapore district in Bengal province. Moreover, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s family was an orthodox Brahmin family. At age 6, his parents sent him to Calcutta so as to live with Bhagabat Charan’s house. He began studying by joining a local school.

Education – Vidyasagar passed in Sanskrit Grammar in 1841 with disguised marks. Furthermore, he joined a Sanskrit College to teach as a part-time job. Moreover, the man got knowledge of Vedanta and astronomy. Also, he joined the Fort William College as a professor to teach the Sanskrit language.

Social Reformer – Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar made a lot of focus on women’s status in society. He certainly tried to bring reforms to the status of women in those days. Vidyasagar made a lot of effort to remove the helplessness and pains of Hindu widows. This is because the condition of Hindu widows in those days was quite depressing and hopeless.

Death- Ishwara Chandra Vidyasagar died on 29 July 1891. Furthermore, he was seventy years of age at the time of his death.
