CBSE Class 10 Science Chapter 4 NCERT SolutionsÂ
Carbons are an important part of Chemistry. Throughout the science syllabus, carbon will always be there. Introduction
In this chapter, the students will come to know about carbon and its compounds. Along with studying the basic carbon presence, students will come to know about the covalent bonds, properties of carbonic compounds, etc.
1.1: Bonding in Carbon: Covalent Bonds
In the very initial phase, the chapter gives a brief introduction about carbon and its compounds. It tells about ‘covalent bonds’. Along with that, the chapter discusses the presence of electrons in the last shell of carbon and how that impacts the relation of carbon with different compounds and elements in the atmosphere. There will be many diagrams for better understanding of bonds of carbon and its compounds.
1.2: Saturated and Unsaturated Carbon Compounds
The very presence of carbon compounds is not that static as it seems to be. Saturated hydrocarbons are different from Unsaturated ones. The point of difference is the presence of a single bond or more than one bond. In the case of Saturated Carbon Compounds, there is a presence of a single bond whereas, on the other hand, it has more than on bond.

At last, the chapter deals with the chemical properties of carbon compounds. It includes various types of reactions of Combustion, Oxidation, Addition Reaction, etc.
