The name Tata in India is synonymous with trust and respect. One of India’s oldest and most prestigious group of companies it was founded by the famous Jamshedji Tata in 1868.

Tata Sons are the primary holding company of all the companies of the Tata Group. It has the majority shareholding in almost all of its companies.

The shareholding pattern of Tata Sons Ltd is a very unique feature of this company. Majority of the shares, almost 66% of them are owned by two trusts, i.e. Dorabji Tata Trust and the Ratan Tata Trust.

Under this group, there are 29 companies that are publicly listed any many others. The total revenue of all companies of Tata Sons is around 677,556 crores in 2015-16. And it employs nearly 660,000 people in the world.

Wipro Ltd is one of India’s leading IT companies. It is mainly a software and IT services company but has also recently explored the hardware sector of the industry. It was founded by Mohamed Premji in 1945 as Western India Palm Refined Oil Ltd, a manufacturer of vegetable oil.

Then in 1980 Wipro broke into the IT sector and renamed itself to Wipro Ltd. Currently, Aziz Premji (son of the founder) is heading it.

Wipro has a global reach in the IT market and targets a global audience with their services. It employs nearly 175,000 people across the globe and has a revenue of 7.7 billion USD as of 2016.
