This article deals with the fundamental unit of life class 9 notes. Robert Hooke, the famous physicist, was once examining a thin slice of cork. Upon examining, Hooke saw that there was a resemblance between the cork and the structure of a honeycomb. Furthermore, cork comes from a tree’s bark. Moreover, Hooke referred to these as boxes. What seems like a small incident, is actually quite significant in the history of science. This is because for the first time humans came to know that living things appear to consist of separate units. Experts in Biology refer to these units with the word cell.
A cell is the fundamental organizational unit of life. Furthermore, a plasma membrane encloses the cell. Moreover, the plasma membrane comprises of lipids and proteins. Also, the cell membrane happens to be an active part of the cell. The regulation of the movement of materials between the cell’s interior and the outer environment takes place due to the cell membrane. There is a cellulose cell wall in plant cells that enables a cell to exist in hypnotic media without damage. Most noteworthy, the nucleus directs the life processes of the cell.
