According to Henri Fayol, an HR manager should possess human relations skills much more than other managerial skills. He divided the qualities needed by an HR manager into these categories:

  1. Physical-health, vigor, address;
  2. Mental-ability to understand and learn; judgment, mental vigor, and also adaptability;
  3. Moral-energy, firmness, willingness to accept, responsibility, initiative, loyalty, tact, dignity;
  4. Educational-general acquaintance with matters not belonging exclusively to the function performed;
  5. Technical-peculiar to the function; and
  6. Experience-arising from the work.

Social Responsibility
