The s- Block Elements Class 11 Revision Notes
The s- Block Elements Class 11 Notes – The s-block of the periodic table constitutes of Group 1 and Group 2 elements. Furthermore, their oxides and hydroxides are alkaline in nature. Moreover, they are characterized by s- electron/s in their valence shell of their atom. Also, they are highly reactive metals that form mono positive and dipositive ions. In addition, with increasing atomic number, there is a regular trend in the physical and chemical properties of the alkali metal.
Most noteworthy, the first element of Group 1 and Group 2 shows similar properties. These similarities are termed as the diagonal relationship in the periodic table. Furthermore, the chemistry of alkaline earth metals is very much similar to the alkali metals. But, there are some differences because of atomic and ionic sizes.
