Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties Class 11 Notes – Firstly, in this chapter, you will study the development of the periodic table. Also, you will learn the periodic law. Furthermore, the modern periodic table arranges the elements on the basis of their atomic numbers n horizontal rows and eighteen vertical columns. Moreover, the atomic number in a period is consecutive, while in a group they increase in a pattern. Besides, four types of elements can be recognized in the periodic table on the basis of their electronic configurations.

In addition, these are s-block, p-block, d-block, and f-block. Besides, periodic trends are observed in atomic sizes, ionization enthalpies, electron gain enthalpies, electronegativity, and valance. Moreover, the chemical reactivity is highest at the two extremes of a period and lowest in the center.
