Letter Writing

Salary Increment Letter

If you believe you are not being compensated adequately for your work and want to do something about it, requesting a pay increase is more than justified. But how do we go about it? A salary increment letter is a letter written by an employee to the appropriate person requesting an increase in salary. It is the employee’s right to demand the wage he/she deserves for his or her effort. This article will cover everything you need to know about salary increment letters and how to request them, as well as provide samples and guidelines to write them.

Salary Increment Letter

A salary increment letter is a formal letter written by an employee to their employer when he/she has not received a raise in a long time or has continuously performed well. A salary request letter is a formal letter submitted to the department head (Senior Manager, Manager, Team Lead, etc.). The Manager then validates the employee’s performance to the HR department and asks a wage rise. An employee’s attendance is also very important for his raise. It demonstrates how consistent and responsible an employee is. He/she should be a hard worker and a strong team player.

Salary Increment Letter can also be written by the Employer. This letter is distributed to employees following the completion of the fiscal month and after their performance evaluation.

Guidelines to Write a Salary Increment Letter

  • Make sure there are no grammatical errors. Simple vocabulary and brief sentences are recommended. Maintain the authenticity.
  • Because this is a formal letter, make sure you sound professional rather than casual.
  • Make sure you are confident in your reasons for believing you deserve a wage increase.
  • Breaking the Hierarchy of giving the salary increment letter to the correct authority will not offer the employee a favourable impression and will lead to the degradation of the growth.

Subject: Salary Appraisal Request

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to request you formally to revise my salary. I have been working as an assistant professor for three years in this school. I have always dedicated myself to my profession and intend to continue doing so in the next years. In addition to my current responsibilities, I have taken on additional work.

I’d also like to point out that my current CTC as an assistant professor is significantly lower than the average annual wage for my position. As a result, I’d want to propose a pay increase of at least 20%.

I would be grateful if the school could give me back as much as I have given it in terms of time and devotion.

Should the need for further discussion occur, I am available.

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Who can you deliver your Salary Increment Letter to?

Answer. The wage increment letter was primarily distributed to the reporting manager, manager, department head, or human resources department. However, you must adhere to the hierarchy. You can first go to the Reporting Manager, who will then forward it to the Manager or Head of the Department, who will then submit it to the HR department.

Q2. What should not be included in a salary increase letter?

Answer. Don’t act like a victim because you’re having financial troubles, and don’t use the other employee’s name for your increment; these are all things that will make you look bad. Also, the tone of the letter should be professional.

Q3. When is the best time to request a pay raise?

Answer. The optimal time to ask for a raise is after one year with the organization.
